Me tired of cranking clanker for the last couple of weeks.
Fafo & dealing with predictive machines just to summon desirable output feels the same as being addicted to gacha pulls.
Whether in generated media like text, audio, or visuals, it only feels worthwhile for zooming out, delegating tasks, high-level refinement. Other it feels like going to the gym without doing anything but watching other people bench.
Still, in its current state, it is awesome to see what the tech can do. Agentic software with slopclaw or hermes with west models or the Chinese ones, as long as they have good harness and context, feels like a different age than six months ago. Also dealing with generated visuals, images, video, & audio have gotten so good that my view of the internet is shifting.
Going through psychosis and getting reality-checked by scheduled reminders from llm too as alarm feels weird haha, but it helps me understand & gives me insight about the current time & position as ordinary silly human on internet. We’re really at inflection point, a different age of information distribution than one year ago.
Let’s say there’s no further advancement. Just imagining the scenario that: “Someday the current smartest model capability can run locally on affordable consumer devices” is enough to scare the shit out of me. When the current model can generate at the speed of thought, it’s no longer just the medium, it’s the message, externalizing our imaginary realm like how we casually speak.
Idk if the average person is ready to know what’s coming, so yea, better to prepare cognitively.
Strengthen your focus. Things like learning math, drawing, playing musical instruments, making art, building systems, really trying to be creative, synthesize and actually practice, matter more than just be the judge of taste, know what you’re thinking, and do the things that actually matter. All of that becomes your moat, saves you from dissonance.
Or you will end up in a never ending doomer spiral or become part of the masses of slop class.
