Umm.. I think, the most ‘ideal’ form of social media is a relay-based system. Best choice right now is:

  • Nostr for the open internet.
  • SimpleXChat for a walled garden.

Everything else isn’t even close.

You don’t need email or even an identity, you can just straight up use it.

The only downside is the network effect, there’s basically hollow in there lol..

Mainstream platforms today are great for the slop game, win by the sloppest: baiting, building reputation, branding, chasing numbers, or getting paid by the system.

Otherwise, you get shadowbanned by the corpos just for being yourself. Not great for socializing in the long run. That’s why so many folks burn out and rage quit.

To build an existence on the internet that’s sustainable by being genuine human: fun and privacy are key for me.

Maybe it’s better to hunt, gather, and foster community on the surface web, like here on X.. then slowly move to better place.

X, Instagram, YouTube, TikTok, etc.. they’re not social media, they’re content media. 90% of people on there aren’t even socializing, they’re just consuming and lurking.

Social media is supposed to get users addicted through social connections.. like you’re yearning to hang out with your buds.

Not through ‘content’ and its algorithms, right??

Hmmm… still no clear idea. Just yapping about my vision for the fun internet possibilities hehehe :D
