The art above is protected by the “AI Poison” Glaze and Nightshade, which were released just a year ago. And yup, now the GPT-4o image-gen mogged it, like nothing happened.

It boggles my mind how easy it is to not prompt, but simply ask. I’m doing an experiment with it purely out of curiosity and wanted to share my thoughts about it with the world!

Dear artbros,

no matter how strong our watermark or how advanced the attempts, as long as our work is slapped in pixels and the wild-wild west internet, just like in a rat race, our work can be mimicked by AI :(

I know how frustrating it is, So, let me take the hard pill with this harsh reality.

We have now reached the point where “it’s too easy” It’s like a betrayal of the fundamental of our monke-brain visual perception that has been shaped over thousands of years.

Tomorrow +5 billions on the internet won’t be prompting anymore. Instead, they’ll just ask stoopid questions to machines, like “Hey can you make it anime, waifu, ghibli, disney, slop, or some shit, make it pretty pwease!” Then take the outputs as their masterpiece.

They are having fun, and we get irritated. I’m sure Hayao Miyazaki is fuming right now, Idk.

Dear techbros,

we know how slop vibe coding feels… They’re making web apps with unfathomable trash code, weak security & vulnerability, and bland soulless UI, creating buggy games, and take millions profit for it.

Again, they are having fun, and we get irritated lol.

Dear researchbros,

you are awesome. We love you. Thank you for releasing both the paper for machinees and for hoomans. You have truly blown our minds fr. You deserve more aura like that mad scientist.

Snap back to what we have, we must realize that we have reached the point of explosion, a point where it’s beyond translation and comprehension.

I’m speaking as someone who grew up with art as my blood and tech as my brain. Now, I find myself trapped in the most vague place on twitter: their intersection…

My reaction to tech was like, “Wow, after thousands of years, humans have given birth to something like this! Amazing! I wonder how it works, is it some form of black magic or what?”

And my reaction to art was like, “Wow, what amazing artists! I want to be like them. I dream of becoming a Renaissance Man, like Leonardo da Vinci! Someone who can create something magical with their own hands! Or even just go full-blown silly or even horny, drawing whatever pops into my wildest imagination!”

But my reaction to both was like, “A never ending cold war, isn’t it?”

AI witch hunts gonna hunt Slop mockers gonna mock Slop makers gonna make Slop in, slop out Haters gonna hate Doers gonna do

Our common enemy is just one: the non-self-aware stupidity. (the self-aware one are funny, I love them!)

In the near future, as an artist, creator, builder, researcher, writer, or anything… Please, please, just pick up your pencil, and pick up your keyboard! Whether you use AI or not is up to you, but pick it up first!

Seek curiosity and embrace hardship. Be fabulous with your actions and creations rather than your pride and ego. It’s hard and painful, but it will be the most worthwhile experience you ever have in life.

You will be fine, I believe in you.
