If I were a startup founder, I wouldn’t create a new “app/platform” to tackle the dead internet, that would only make everything more bloated. Alternative apps fail to create authenticity, all they offer are better protocols for privacy and anti-censorship, like Nostr. But I’ve noticed that those feel empty because their network effect is very weak.
Instead, I would create a philosophy and methodology for being human amidst the onslaught of AI in cyberspace, in a way that’s fun. That’s why I’m experimenting with my own internet existence.
This account isn’t anonymous, nor is it an alter ego, I’m just a pseudonym. In real life, everyone knows me as “kirbara” Here, I’m just creating my own bubble, people who don’t fit automatically get filtered out. The internet becomes my playground.
I’m tired of how people view of identity has shifted to “personal branding” instead of “souls”.. To exist as yourself on the internet, you shouldn’t have to think about strategies to get attention. But algorithms have changed the natural way humans connect, making us focus on engagement numbers rather than the value of connection through content, and that affects our psychology.
I’ve seen many people succeed on the internet by treating others as metrics and objects, even if they do it in a kind and nice way, it still feels off.
Thankfully, I’ve found a sweet spot on Xitter where curious people, builders, creators, learners, and doers naturally gather in a decentralized way. I see that as the bare bones for further experimentation.
You know, humans can use AI in a cracked way and still remain human on the internet. I found that kind on this site.
- hmm…
- dead internet = full of AI? maybe not
- lack of courage, only consuming
- dead internet = humans sad
- “so please don’t die, internet!”
- humans trying to revive internet to ‘living’ again
- full of hard work, struggle, curiosity
- majority of humans make their personal sites
- display it on their bio in every social media
- they share links, lists of others, make updates of it
- humans telling bunches of cool stories
- internet feel alive again
- make your own personal website
- share, tell, & show your story in there with privacy in mind
- use social media to socialize and inform updates
- numbers and algorithms only belong to social media
- build something, do something, not just consume
- don’t let automation kill your drive
- rage against the dying internet
